As for the 105 f/2 DC I’m afraid you’re misinformed about it’s DC-function – it’s not a ”gimic” – but the function is often not applyed correctly. The DC function is used to slightly improve the bokeh of the forground (F-setting) or background (R-setting). The DC setting may not be increesed beyond the actual apperture or you’ll end up with a photo out of focus. AF has to be done after setting the DC.
